If MSHL S9 were a newly released game title, this would be the “Expansion Pack” youโve been waiting for. This new “patch” introduces updates that streamline team management, promote recruitment, and emphasize player development for S9.
Introducing the General Manager Role
This season, weโre introducing the General Manager (GM) roleโa non-playing position for veterans who want to contribute to MSHL by managing players without stepping on the ice. Hereโs how it works:
- A GM will not count toward the 8VP roster limit and will cost 0VP (free to use the 8VP as they see fit).
- GMs are not eligible to play in any games; they will receive a “suspension” for the entire season.
- The GMโs role is to manage the team, recruit players, and handle roster adjustments as needed.
This new role provides an opportunity for experienced players to guide and support the creation of teams from behind the scenes.
If you wish to become a “General Manager”, please let me know and I will apply that role to you on your roster.
Free Agents: Visibility for Recruitment
To make team-building easier, we have created a Free Agents roster.
Hereโs what you need to know:
- The Free Agents roster is not an actual team.
- Its purpose is to showcase available players looking to join a team.
- Captains should use this roster to identify and reach out to players they want to recruit.
This initiative is all about transparency and accessibility, giving captains a clear view of potential recruits and ensuring no player is left behind during the roster-building process.
The Newbie Spirit Rule
One of the cornerstones of MSHL Season 9 is the Newbie Spirit Rule. This rule embodies the philosophy of the league by encouraging captains to prioritize new player development. Hereโs how it works:
- Every team is expected to sign and play at least one 0VP player who is new to the zone.
- A “new player” is defined as someone with less than 200 minutes of icetime in past RSHL, MSHL, or Beer League seasons.
The Newbie Spirit Rule ensures that every team contributes to the growth of the league by giving at least one new player valuable icetime. We want to encourage bringing new blood into the zone. But it’s not just about signing a randomly passing newbieโitโs about integrating them into the game, helping them develop their skills, and fostering a welcoming environment.
This rule aligns with the core mission of MSHL: to motivate captains to embrace the next generation of players. By making room for new talent, we create a league that is sustainable, inclusive, and remains fun to play.
So please, Captains, do your part, and get at least one newcomer into your team.
Looking Ahead
Iโm confident these changes will not only enhance the experience for veterans and newcomers alike but also build toward growing our small community.
Letโs make MSHL Season 9 one to remember.
