DHSI, Season 38 Champs!

DHSI wins the Blackie Cup!

After winning the first three games in the 5-game Finals series, DHSI managed to sweep Creasers to take the coveted Blackie Cup trophy on Monday night. Congratulations to them for all their hard work. Their strategic planning to neutralize Creasers’ offense and capitalize on their two warbirds’ speed has ultimately paid off after a splendid season.

Creasers put up a fierce fight, tying DHSI 1 – 1 during the second period. Unfortunately, with only 0:51 seconds remaining in the game, image sealed their fate with a bottom post shot after a nice assist from Lawn Dwarf, who managed to escape past violence‘s reach during an odd man rush while the CR offense was on the other side of the rink.

There was little chance for Batzilla to dive down in time to block the shot. Zanaz attempted to run back and check image before he encroached on the bottom of the net, and even got the kill, but image respawned just in time to receive the puck from Lawn Dwarf and score.

With only 50 seconds remaining, Creasers attempted to cycle the puck in order to find a way through DHSI’s defense. Unfortunately, time ran out as they pressured them in their own zone. The buzzer rang and the game was over. DHSI had won!

With the 2-1 lead, DHSI lifts the Blackie Cup and puts a ribbon on a wonderful season and playoff series. Creasers wins the Presidents Cup trophy for being the top team with most wins during the regular season, losing only three games. Good job to everyone involved and awesome games.
