Some Updates on RSHL.blog

Hello Hockey Zone! I’d like to talk about some new updates to the blog (there have been a few). The front page now has a small sidebar with links to affiliated websites (such as rshl.org) and other useful things, such as the HZ discord or the current league standings.

We also have a video section now at the very bottom of the front page, which is updated regularly with the latest uploads from our archives channel on YouTube (managed by Jalrix). This is the where all of the VODs from Twitch are getting sent to in an attempt to save past season games before Twitch gets rid of them all.

Another thing that I’ve changed is this section here:

Now you can see the community engagement on the right hand side besides the Editorials. Any comments on articles will show there, from most recent to last.

In regards to articles written here, I’ve decided to include an audio of an AI voice reading the article on each of the blog posts. This is mostly for the community members out there who don’t want to read the entire blog post but simply listen to it. You won’t have to download any audio file, as the audio will play on its own when you click on the media player button.

Finally, I’ll be replacing the League page on the site with a Media page. I think anyone who browses this blog will already have an idea of what hockey zone is about (mostly because the frequent visitors are people playing in the league). I think having a Media section where we can see the various things created by the community (art, videos, audio, etc.) fits better.

Writers Wanted

Speaking of articles, I’d really like the blog to not just be a place for puff pieces or how-to guides (although these are fine too!). I would also like for actual news about RSHL and MSHL to be posted here. In that effort, I am hoping to have more informative and league-relevant articles this year so that it is more of a hub for news than anything.

That was my initial goal when I created the blog.

Because I will most likely be too busy with MSHL, school, and work, I would like to ask the community for some help with crafting these news articles.

If you think you can keep readers updated on the goings-on of the league, then please help out by contributing some articles. If you’d like to apply as a writer, contact me on Discord or send me a message on the forums. There are no strict requirements, just the desire to publish media on the site (it doesn’t even have to be written, it could be audio files or even videos!).

I’ve created a writers channel on discord for this purpose. You can find it on #writers-guild on the main discord. If you need access to the blog, simply ask for it there and I will grant it.

Other than that, I hope everyone has fun playing once MSHL and RSHL start their regular seasons. Thank you for reading!
