The Realistic Subspace Hockey League (RSHL) is an online sports league that takes place in a video game called Subspace Continuum, originally released in 1997. In Continuum’s server list, there are several servers, all of which have different themes, styles, and game modes. The main game, however, revolves around players flying 2d spaceships and shooting each other in a multiplayer space arena. Watch the video below to get an idea of what it’s like.

Hockey Zone is the server that hosts the Realistic Subspace Hockey League. The whole premise behind the server is to allow real life sports to be simulated within the Continuum game environment. This means that instead of killing other ships, often the purpose or goal of the game is to score on a net being guarded by a goalkeeper and defenders.

Games are played on a 6v6 format with periods of 12 minutes each. This allows enough time for a team to transition the ball in order to get through the other team’s defenders and score. Naturally, the team with the highest points wins.

The league runs seasons on a regular basis, alternating between Traditional and Draft formats. Each season is independent of the others (rules, franchises, etc. may change between seasons.) The season itself is broken up into four parts: Off-season, Pre-season, Regular-season, and Post-season.

All games are played on SSCE Hockey/Football Zone’s main server.

Only players that have joined a roster of one of the official league teams may participate. Players can join a team or make a team at any point before the season starts.
